TITLE IIa Funding CAN Be used by Christian Schools to Attend ACSI and other Religious Conventions

  ACSI leadership has been in touch with the PA DOE in relationship to Title IIa funding.  It had been reported from several school leaders that funding would no longer be permitted if the entity providing the training was faith-based.  This ended up to be a wrong interpretation on the part of the IU’s.  Although you may find a little more scrutiny in the past, you should find that Pennsylvania will continue to follow the federal guidelines for the use of these funds.  These guidelines (attached) allow for professional development activities considered to be neutral, nonsectarian and non-ideological regardless of the faith status of the provider.   Please feel free to contact the ACSI leadership in Lancaster if you need more clarification.  The following memo has been sent from the Department of Education to Dr. John Storey:
